Whether you need a quick review session before a test or a patient long-term tutor to teach you the details of a subject, I can help. I specialize in tutoring math because it is my passion and my expertise, and I hope I can help you enjoy it too.
Math is a daunting subject for many students because it is cumulative. If you missed a past topic or simply forgot it, new material can quickly become confusing or meaningless. A normal teacher can't always address this problem, because he or she must always continue with the course material. When learning from me however, the time is yours and we can focus on nothing but your weak points, getting you caught up fast and prepared for your next lecture or test.
I have a degree in Mathematics from UCLA, but that is not really important. I understand that being good at math and being good at TEACHING math are two different things. I won't simply do math problems in front of you and hope that you followed along. Rather, I will ask you questions that build your understanding, and I will show you the way I think about problems as I do them. On the other hand, if all you need is someone to check your answers on a review test or follow along with you as you do your homework to build your confidence, I can do that too. I am very patient and will do anything that you think will help.
My students have ranged in age from 5 years to 45 years, in subjects as simple as basic arithmetic and decimals to subjects as advanced as Vector Calculus, Combinatorics, and Analysis. I have been tutoring for several years, and in that time I have learned how to help many types of students with various needs.
If you're unsure as to whether I can meet your specific needs, feel free to send me a message and ask!
