I was born and educated in England and completed my secondary education at a Jesuit school where I achieved 7 O-Levels and 4 A-Levels - equivalent to the SAT's - scoring in the 90th percentile. I spent 2 years at Keele University and followed that by graduating from the London Film School while supporting myself by tutoring.
During many years as a Hollywood film editor, I took great pleasure in teaching my skills to many apprentice and assistant editors. In addition, I taught classes in Post-Production Supervision and in basic film-making. Now, I'm enjoying passing along my broader knowledge to kids the age of my grandsons. It's important to me that my students understand the interconnectedness of knowledge - for instance, a new vocabulary word will have a Latin root, which leads to a greater understanding of history and geography and how they fit in your child's world. Drawing connections like this can spark a child's interest in learning that will lead to successful school career, and also helps to inculcate a love of learning and curiosity that is a lifetime investment.
I passed all my WyzAnt tests with scores of at least 90%. I'm extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of English studies as well as in History and Geography and can also tutor basic Algebra. Students will see their grades improve and their confidence and interest soar. I'm very patient and have a good sense of humor, and I do whatever is needed to help the student scale the next hurdle.
