I am a credentialed k-12 multiple subject teacher who specializes in motivating students so that they soon no longer need to be tutored but are eagerly working on their own and achieving their potential. Short term projects are easily mapped out. I am the picture taker in our family so, that is why there is not a good picture of me in this whole application.

I am happy to come to your home or to a near by library, which ever is easier for you. I like to work with the child's teacher to see what the teacher believes is needed. I have been teaching for over 15 years.

Elementary (K-6th)

For the past seven years, I have been a substitute for every grade in the Poway Unified School District. I have worked with students from all walks of life and from all abilities. I prefer always to be able to confer with the student's teacher when I tutor so that I can see what that teacher sees as a problem and what will benefit the student the most for that particular classroom. I have a valid k-12 multiple subject credential for California with Cladd.

Phonics

I am a k-12 multiple subject California credentialed teacher. I have taught phonics throughout my career, especially with the learning challenged students. I work with scholastic teaching tools and word rings, too.

Study Skills

I have a multiple subject (k-12) credential and have found that the best way to help a student study is to help them be organized and have plans for studying. I work on binder cleaning with them and time charts. I have special workbooks with special skill level work for catching up with work that they may have missed.

Special Needs

I have a multiple subject credential, k-12, and have worked as both a teacher and a classroom aide in special needs and critical care classes. I am gentle and patient but practical. My credential is up to date and I take extra classwork to be sure that I am up to date in my teaching methods.

ADD/ADHD

I have K-12 multi-subject teaching credentials and have worked for many years with students who have Attention Deficit Disorder. I work hard to help them learn how to stay on task and focused. I make charts for them and use a reward system. I follow the state standards for each subject but try to incorporate every learning technique available to keep each student focused so that actual learning takes place.

Aspergers

For the last three years I have worked a great deal with students on the Autism Spectrum including Aspergers. I am very gentle and watchful of my students while trying to help them ease through difficult phases. I respect their space and their movements and try to get them to reach towards the learning. I worked one on one in the Poway School District in both elementary and middle school. I also did home schooling for students who were unable to attend school because of fears and phobias.

Autism

Two summers ago, a friend asked me to substitute teach in her class. She taught ASD grades 1 and 2. She told me she had several aides in the classroom who would help me if I had a problem. I didn't have a problem. I fell in love with her class and continued working there as an aide also. Her students were promoted to grades 2 and 3. They were, for the most part, non-verbal. All were toilet trained but each could have "accidents."
