Fatima’s qualifications in specific subjects below.
CBEST
I've taken the CBEST, and have passed with flying colors. I've also taken the two General Science CSET exams, and the CSET Biology exam, and did extremely well on both exams. I can teach you the newest, most up-to-date material, and strategies to ace this exam! I am also a great writer, and help you acquire the skills necessary to write fantastic essays!
College Counseling
I have gone through high school, undergraduate and graduate school, and therefore have first-hand experience with the ins and outs of the application process. More useful, however, is the fact that since I have become a private tutor, I have worked with several students in the college application process. I am great at researching, discussing ideas, and brainstorming. I can create a list of deadlines, and will motivate you to stick by it. I have helped create immaculate personal statements, and have even written recommendation letters for some of my long-term tutees! My student feedback regarding college counseling speaks for itself. I look forward to helping you during this exciting time, and hope to help you achieve your highest goals! I promise, that with my help, you will put your best foot forward.
Genetics
I took Genetics both as a Biology major, and also while attending medical school, where I gained more advanced Genetics knowledge. In addition, I have performed extensive Genetics research during my undergraduate education, so I understand the subject in an in-depth level. Genetics has also always been a personal passion of mine, so I constantly keep up-to-date on new developments! I look forward to helping you enjoy Genetics!
ISEE
ISEE/SSAT:
I have tutored a couple of students so far on the ISEE and SSAT. I can tutor lower, middle and upper level. I am very aware of the newest material and strategies to do well on these exams, and have tutored students to success. I can tutor both the Math and Verbal sections effectively. Get ready to get into the school of your choice!
Microbiology
I have taken a Microbiology course both in my Biology major, and also a more clinically focused course in medical school. Both courses included a lab component. With all my experience tutoring Biology, and more specific Biology courses, I feel like I am fully equipped to tutor Microbiology!
Organic Chemistry
I have taken both General Chemistry and a competitive Organic Chemistry class with other pre-health (medicine, dental, etc.) majors. I did well in the class, and I also touched upon some Organic Chemistry concepts in my Biochemistry, Genetics and Physiology classes while in medical school. Overall, I have a thorough understanding of the concepts taught in Organic Chemistry.
Pharmacology
I have a very strong science background. I was a Biology major in college, and then attended medical school. In medical school, I took an in-depth course on pharmacology, in which I did very well! As with all the other subjects I tutor, I have a thorough, and clear understanding of the material. This is especially important with pharmacology, as many students fall into the trap of simply memorizing drugs. It is important to truly understand the science and physiology behind the study of drugs, instead of simply memorizing. Also, because this is a topic that includes a lot of information, it is important to be able to organize the information, and, more importantly perhaps, scope out the essential details that you are required to know. I am a master of all these techniques, and am very qualified to effectively teach Pharmacology! I look forward to getting you excited about Pharmacology!
Piano
I have had about nine years of piano lessons (practical and theory). I've trained with some of the best teachers. I've passed up to Grade 8 in the Royal Conservatory of Music Series, and up to Grade 5 in Royal Conservatory of Music Theory series. I've played in numerous prestigious recitals, competitions and venues. I also played piano for my jazz band in high school. My most memorable experience was playing Rachmaninoff's Concerto # 3 in Carnegie Hall. Just as with my other subjects, I am a patient, caring and engaged teacher!
I have such a passion for playing and teaching piano, and have taught students very effectively. I look forward to passing my love of music on to you!
Study Skills
Hello Students,
I believe good study skills are the key to success to anything and everything in life!!
Having been in a school environment for many years, I've come to master the art of effective studying. My mother says that, ever since I was old enough to go to school, I was always very good about doing homework on time. I would come home from school, and do my homework before playing, without my parents even having to remind me. This carried through to elementary school, and high school. Proof of being a highly effective student? I was involved in numerous clubs in high school (including being a competitive athlete all 3 seasons), and still graduated top 5 in my class!
These habits continued in college. I graduated as the top senior in my major (Biology), while on the track and cross country team, and being a leader in many other clubs and activities. These good study skills helped me thrive in medical school also.
What have I learned? Attitude is key to help you achieve your goals! You need to have a positive outlook, be resilient in spite of difficulties, and set high goals for yourself. Time management is also of utmost importance to achieve anything, and as you can see from my previous experiences, I have mastered time management well.
There's a lot more I could write about my techniques, so email me! :)
Track & Field
Hello runners or prospective runners!
I'm very excited to be on this site, because it means that it can potentially link me to athletes that I can pass my passion of running on to!
I have been a star, competitive athlete all my life. I remember running in races as early as second grade. I joined my track and cross country teams while in grade school, and started doing well against class mates and my region there. In high school, I received many honors: State Group Champion in Cross-country, First Team All- County, and All- League Honors, among others. I was among the top runners in my state, and also the North East region of the US.
While in college, I joined track and cross-country as well. I set the 10KM record in 2005, which still hasn't been broken. I continue to run, and place well in competitive races in California, which is where I reside now. My passion for running is still very much alive! I am willing to coach beginner, intermediate and advanced runners.
I look forward to coaching you, and getting you excited about running!
