Graduate of Occidental College, Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. Math major, Chem minor. Classroom and tutoring experience in all levels of high school math, chemistry, and general science. Have a Ca Secondary Credential. Experienced in training for math competitions, SAT and ACT. Placed first in Los Angeles in the LACC math competition. Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is an extremely important subject for anyone who plans to take the SAT or ACT and who plans to take any advanced courses in Science or Math. It is the pivotal course where students who have relied on memorizing solution methods for specific problem types begin to have trouble. Calculus

I taught calculus in the classroom for 5 years and have tutored several people very successfully. This is one of my favorite subjects. I look forward to sharing it with you or your student.

Chemistry

I taught HS chem for several years and have tutored several students over the years. Chemistry is a really fun subject. I am ready to pass on my chemistry knowledge to either you or your student.

Geometry

Geometry can be a lot of fun. Geometry and Algebra 2 are the two most important course for the SAT/ACT tests, so it is crucial that students really understand the material. Geometry is a good way to make algebra more real too.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry has both a practical side and a theoretical side. I help students bridge from the concrete to the abstract concepts. Trig is very important in Calculus and students going on in Math need to be fluent in it.

Astronomy

I've been president of the LA Sidewalk Astronomers for years. I've given classes in astronomy for kids and in telescope making. However, I'm not qualified enough for college level courses.

SAT Math

This is one of my favorite areas. Studying for the SAT/ACT tests really helps to focus on how thorough the student's basic understanding of the material is. I give students ways to relate and hence better remember the material they studied in Geometry and Algebra. We also practice test taking strategies.
