I recently received a B.A. from both impressive studio art and physics degree programs. This summer, I worked with several physics, geometry, and algebra students in courses at local high schools, universities, and online. During college, I spent three years in Worcester Public Schools tutoring grades 3-6 in math, reading, writing, and vocabulary and helped peers with calculus, sculpture, drawing, painting, woodworking, clay, plaster and mold making, and three-dimensional design. I also assisted in cold atom research in a laboratory setting for the last two years. In my second year, I mentored two new research assistants. My artwork has been exhibited in a couple shows near Boston and won an honorable mention at the 9th Annual Arts Worcester College Show. In March, I received the Reardon Award for demonstrated excellence in studio arts from the College of the Holy Cross.

Please take time to read reviews by students I worked with this summer.

I am moving to the Long Beach area on August 7th and seeking opportunities for the upcoming school year.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

I hold a degree in Studio Arts. Relevant courses I've completed include Fundamentals of Drawing, Life Drawing, Calligraphy, and Painting. I have casually tutored peers in the college art department by sharing technique and encouraging unreserved expressiveness.

Elementary (K-6th)

For three years, I have tutored elementary school students in Worcester Public Schools in Massachusetts. Subjects have included math, vocabulary, spelling, reading, writing, and standardized testing. I have also done a lot of work with ESL students.

Geometry

As a physics major in college, I've always been very good at math. Looking back, my high school geometry class was always my favorite and I enjoy tutoring it the most.

Lacrosse

I played lacrosse for six years. I started on my high school varsity team with which I won two conference championships. I also officiated youth games for a couple years which required teaching during play.

Great tutor! — Katie has really helped my son who was struggling with his UCLA Physics class. She's super sweet and made my son feel a lot more confident about solving complicated Physics problems, so going into his final he finally feels like he understands the very difficult material. Her attitude and willingness to help him have been invaluable! ...
