Hello! My name is Bert. I have tutored for over 20 years. I love helping students face-to-face and one-on-one. This way, I can quickly learn a student's strengths, weaknesses, and personality, and tailor my teaching style to that individual person.
I started tutoring when I was in 8th grade, and I thought it would be a temporary job until I graduated from college.
I graduated top of my class at Cal State University Northridge in Fall 1994 with a GPA of 3.98, a B.S. in Computer Science, and a minor in Mathematics. However, I did not like my working environment, because I could not interact with others much or help other people much, so I decided to go back to tutoring.
About 70% of what I have tutored is math, from basic elementary-school math, to Pre-Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus (and some Statistics, Probability, and Calculus).
Also, for several years, I have also tutored the entire HSPT (the typical entrance exam for students who want to attend private high schools) and the math portions of the SAT and ACT college entrance exams.
Besides math, I have spent time helping students with other subjects, such as science (including science projects), grammar, general writing and essay writing, spelling, and phonics (including helping a student learn how to read using "Hooked on Phonics").
I look forward to helping you or someone you know that needs help.
