My name is Mr. Olson and I absolutely love teaching children and seeing them be successful! I have a very well-rounded knowledge of many subjects including mathematics, history (U.S. and World), literature, reading, writing, music (vocal and music theory) and art. I graduated from CSULB with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Teaching and from Cerritos College with an Associate of Arts degree, and the one I am most proud of - Long Beach Polytechnic High School where I was very involved in choral music, varsity football, and the Christian club Agape on campus. After high school I enlisted in the Air Force and spent six years in the service.
I believe in being very motivational and encouraging with my students and expect them to always do their best and be prepared. I also like to get to know them as a person and what they like and dislike. I am always on time and most times early for class because as a substitute teacher that is an absolute must. I am currently substitute teaching for both Norwalk - La Mirada Unified School District and the ABC Unified School District and have been with both of them for the past 5 years. Prior to that I worked at Fleming Middle School through LAUSD for 2 years and before that I worked for the Long Beach Unified School District at Webster Elementary School for 10 years. So as you can see, I have quite a bit of experience in the classroom. However, what I love the most is working one-on-one with a student and seeing them become not only better and more capable students but better people.
