Algebra 1
Math Specialist: I have master in Mathematics. I have taught math at the University of Phoenix and I have been tutoring one-on-one for more than 15 years. As I use visual and graphical illustrations in teaching math, my students quickly grasp difficult math concepts. As a result, their grades improve drastically within few sessions.
Algebra 2
As I have taught Algebra 2 at Phoenix Univ., I am very familiar with difficulties students face in comprehending the underlying math concepts in Algebra 2. My approach to remedy is to use visual and graphic techniques in soloving the problems. This successful approach inspires students to become confident and improve their grades rapidly while enjoying tackling Algebra 2 problems.
I have about 15 years of experience in tutoring math to students individually and in small groups.
Calculus
Calculus involves differential and integral calculus. Differential calculus concerns itself with rates of change. Integral calculus deals with generalized type of addition or amalgamation of quantities.
As an math major I am able to clarify these concepts using graphs, charts and detailed explanations of underlying math principles. As a result, I am able to connect the calculus problems with everyday problems in life.
CBEST
I have taken CBEST and have passed with almost a perfect score. I have been tutoring CBEST candidates for more than 15 years and I my students have passed even though they had great difficulties in math, reading or writing. My passion and dedication for excellence in education inspire and motivate my students to take risks and learn difficult concepts. I positively support them and insist that they should not give up. I believe that if we persist, we can be successful.
Chemical Engineering
I am a practicing chemical engineer with a master's degree. During my thirty years of tenure as an engineer in a construction engineering company, I have designed chemical plants, gas plants and oil refinery units. In addition, I have provided training to young engineers in the company I worked for. As a result, I am qualified to tutor in chemical engineering.
Chemistry
I am a chemical engineer. As a result, I am thoroughly familiar with the subject. Chemistry includes balancing equations, understanding the structure of different elements and their properties. In addition, one has to become familiar with the practical use of chemistry in the industry. A carefully-paced approach with plenty of explanations and examples help in becoming comfortable with the subject. As a result, students enjoy tackling chemistry problems as part of classwork and homework.
Discrete Math
Discrete math is the study of sets, partitions, systems of linear equations, probabilities, matrix algebra and applications, probabilities, linear programming, modeling and graphical solutins, random variables and principles of statistics.
During my tenure at Phoenix university, I have taught discrete mate (finite math) to business students. Discrete math helps students to organize information and then analyze it. It allows to gain a valuable insight into mathematical model buiding. As a result, they become proficient in business related analyses such as break-even analysis or depreciation analysis.
English
During my education, I have taken many classes in English language development and teaching strategies to support ESL students. I have also taught CBEST examination Preparation classes. In my private tutoring, I have improved many students and was instrumental in making sure that they pass the examination.
ESL/ESOL
I'm native English speaking. I've studied abroad and learned few languages such as: German, Hindi, Gujrati. I have received an M.A from Germany. I've natural talent for languages. I've also translated chemical companies' technical work into English. I teach language with pictures, vocabulary cards, realia, video clips and gestures. In addition, I provide appropriate communication opportunities for my students.
Geometry
As geometry requires visual and hands-on practice, I provide three dimensional folding models to explain geometry concepts. I also apply geometry concepts to real world situations such as buildings, containers, fields and real objects.
Teacing is my passion and students are my number one priority. In addition, by profession I am an engineer and I use these concepts in my daily work.
Grammar
I have a master degree and I've taken many classes on Mechanics of English Grammar and Writing. I also have taken classes in strategies to teach ESL students. I've written some articles in few magazines. I have taught for the University of Phoenix and I tutor students to succeed in passing CBEST test. I have also helped students to improve their scores in SAT and ACT
Hindi
I am qualified to teach Hindi because it is my native language and I have taken Hindi literature courses during the college years.
In addition, I had worked as a Hindi translator in Germany for the Automobile Association of Motorists. I am fluent in speaking, writing, and reading Hindi.
Mechanical Engineering
I am a praticing engineer with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. During my thirty years employment in a construction company, I have dealt with mechanical engineering issues and provided solutions to design problems. In addition, I trained young engineers in our company in handling project related issues and solving mechanical engineering design problems.
Precalculus
As precalculus includes the solutions of linear and quadratic equations, irrational fraction simplification, basic coordinate geometry and basic trigonometric functions, it is necessary to clear these concepts using graphs and charts. This approach helps students in tackling precalculus problems comfortably. In addition, I use a carefully paced approach with lots of explanations which provides tremendous help to students to conquer the fear of precalculus.
Statistics
The study of statistics involves random variables, sampling, hypothesis testing, regression and quality control. As a result, it is necessary to have a very good understanding of basic math concepts and interpretation of data. I use graphs and charts to clarify the underlying math concepts. With plenty of explanations and examples, I make students feel comfortable doing statistics problems and enjoy the subject.
Study Skills
The study skills have several components: time management, handling priorities, organization of materials by subject matter or by concepts, and color coding.
Test taking skills play a very effective role to increase the test score as well as the understanding of the subjects.
Reading the questions prior to reading the material and underlining the words related to the questions and answers reduce errors and test time. By an elimination process, a student can increase the chance of getting the correct answer by 50%.
Trigonometry
Trigonometry involves functions of sine, cosine, and tangent. These functions can be best represented by graphs. These graphs help in solving trigonometric equations and identities. In addition, learning the fundamentals of cartesian geometry completes the study of trigonometry.
Writing
The purpose of writing is to engage certain audience in an appropriate subject. There are basically three types of writing: expressive, informative and persuasive. Expressive writing emphasizes the writer's feelings and reactions to the world, to people, objects, events and ideas.Informative writing focuses reader's attention upon the objective world, the objects, the events. Persuasive writing aims to sway the reader's opinions or attitudes, arouse the reader to action,or in some other way bring about a particular response.
I teach these three types of writings by way of brainstorming the ideas, arrange the ideas in a logical sequence and express each idea clearly. This is achieved by lot of explanations and practice.
