I offer mathematics tutoring for students in middle school and high school. I tutor a wide range of mathematical subjects, including Algebra and Calculus and everything in between. My tutoring methods vary depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the student. I try to adapt my teaching style to match up with the student's learning style in order to develop a deep understanding of the material. At the same time I also try to help students develop better work habits and study skills in order to become better overall performers in the classroom. I have been told by my past students that the way I explain math, using unique analogies and real life applications, allows them to comprehend the overall big picture; once the student has a grasp on the core mathematical concepts, everything becomes much easier because not only do they know how to do the math, they also understand why it works.
I have four years of formal tutoring experience, (which doesn't include the dozens of high school classmates that I occasionally tutored privately in my spare time). For the last two years I have been tutoring LAUSD students as part of the No Child Left Behind Supplemental Education Services program. I currently attend CSULB, where I am working toward a degree in mathematics (option in Education) and from there I plan to go on to be a high school mathematics teacher.
Furthermore, I become personally invested in every student I tutor; I make it my personal mission to improve their math skills, to elevate their grades, and most importantly to spark an interest in and create a love for mathematics.
