Dear Parents,
With more than seven years experience in the test prep industry as an Instructor, Tutor, Assessment Director, and Operations Manager, I am an experienced SAT & ACT teacher who has raised hundreds of students' scores. Many of my students have gone on to achieve scores in the highest percentiles, gain acceptance to elite colleges, and earn employment as tutors themselves. My work experience, skills, and education verify my job qualifications, which offer a colorful snapshot of an exceptional instructor.
While completing my Master of Fine Arts Degree from Chapman University in 2006, I was introduced to the profession of SAT & ACT Instructor through my employment with Ivy West, formerly one of the most successful tutoring companies in California. For three years I worked for Ivy West as a Classroom Instructor and Private Tutor, teaching classes of as many as 100 students and tutoring over 100 students in private, one-on-one lessons. While teaching the SAT, ACT, SAT Subject Tests, PSAT, ISEE, SSAT, & HSPT part-time for Ivy West, I also tutored privately in Long Beach and for three other tutoring centers as a test prep specialist. Meanwhile, I also found time to instruct academic classes, both as Adjunct Professor of Art History at Fremont College and as a Substitute Teacher for the Green Dot Charter Schools of Los Angeles.
In November of 2008, I elected to leave Ivy West for a full-time position as Assessment Director with another prominent California test prep company, Eureka Review. In my 3 years at Eureka, I not only led the company in student enrollments, but I also was promoted to Operations Manager, a role in which I took on responsibilities such as the writing and editing of test prep curriculum, the managing, hiring, and training of SAT & ACT tutors, and the shooting and editing of test prep videos for the company website. Moreover, I scheduled, organized, and conducted dozens of presentations at high schools across California on the skills required to “Outsmart the SAT”.
Finally, with my Master of Fine Arts degree in Screenwriting and my Bachelor of Science degree in Television, Film, & New Media Production, I have worked diligently the last ten years to amass related accolades. In 2002, I received the Pacific Southwest Emmy Award for Best Student Film in the San Diego region, and, last year, I was selected as a “Finalist” for the esteemed Sundance Screenwriters Lab.
If hired, I would impart my expertise to your students to help them raise their scores and reach their dream colleges, just as I have helped hundreds of students throughout my years of teaching.
Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.
