Most recently, I have taught English, social studies, integrated coordinated science, and mathematics classes to both general and special education students at the secondary school level in a variety of settings. I have also taught and counseled students in career development at the community college level. I have a great deal of enthusiasm for assisting students, especially individually, to achieve their specific goals. I possess a B.A. degree in International Affairs from George Washington University, an MBA degree in Marketing from Tulane University, and an M.S. degree in Counseling from California State University, Los Angeles.
I prefer to engage students in the learning process by being both patient and encouraging as well as utilizing specific praise to keep students on track to meet their educational objectives. I have extensive knowledge of the English language, and I can tutor students effectively in not only vocabulary and grammar but also reading and writing. As a result, I also can prepare them to study strategically for a variety of tests, such as the ASVAB, SAT and CBEST.
All in all, being a seasoned professional with in-depth experience in both the business and educational arenas, I have the flexibility and varied expertise to meet a myriad of tutoring needs, and I would welcome the opportunity to provide you with the kind of tutoring that would be most effective in achieving the learning outcomes that you expect and deserve!
