Hello! My name is Seth and I would be happy to be your tutor!

I have a background in volunteerism. I volunteer as an AYSO Youth Soccer League Referee and Coach as well as an Archery Instructor and Dorm Counselor at a youth camp over the summer. From this background I have had a lot of experience instructing kids 6-18 years old.

I hold an Associate's Degree in the Applied Science Of Architecture and am currently pursuing a Bachelor's of Architecture with a concentration in Urban Studies at the NewSchool of Architecture Design in San Diego, CA.

In addition to my knowledge in math, science and design I can also provide some instruction in playing the guitar, shooting archery and freehand sketching.

My motivation: I believe that one of the best feelings in the world is to see someone succeed. Through being a tutor I am both able to help a person reach their goals and gain the satisfaction of being a part of their success.

Algebra 1

Equations?!
Linear Functions?!
Numbers?!

It's not really that bad. Maybe instead of seeing numbers someone needs to visualize coconuts being cut in half.

The simple functions of math can be taught well when put into perspective.

Algebra 2

I admit at times I am a little rusty with imaginary numbers and logarithms, but one of the most important things I learned while in school is that it is not whether or not one can recall information at the drop of a hat that is important; it is whether one can find that information when one needs to apply it.

I will be able to walk through problems and equations with a student to help him/her discover the answers and accomplish the goal of truly learning the subject.

Microsoft Excel

Excel is not a program that I use frequently but I have taken classes on spreadsheets and know a teachable amount of functions and codes for the Excel program.

Geometry

Oh, the core of the Architecture Design field and one of my favorite subjects.

It is all about relations, and realizing that "x" is really a number and not a letter.

Microsoft Word

Word is a program that I use almost daily from writing research papers to resumes.

However, there are quite a few tricks to make ones writing stand out and to pick up the presentation of a paper through graphics and formatting.

It does more than what it seems...

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have extensive knowledge using this program as I have frequently put together classroom/meeting presentations with the application.

It is really a very easy program once one gets started.

Prealgebra

One simply must know his/her basic algebra in order to survive today. Math had always been my favorite class in school and when presented in a way that the student relates to, it can be a snap to learn and a lot of fun too.

SAT Math

I performed well taking my own SAT before going on into college and believe that I can help your child do the same.

The SAT, being rooted in pattern recognition, algebra, graphing and geometry, plays to my mathematical strong suits.

Sometimes the pressure of taking the SAT can bother a student more than the actual problems that he/she will see inside. I am sure I can help with that struggle as well.

Adobe Photoshop

I use this program almost daily from story board layouts to photo editing (making desktop backgrounds mostly) to simply "fixing" photographs for organizations or for myself.

It is a wonderful program with miraculous potential.

Adobe Illustrator

Admittedly, I am not as familiar with Illustrator as I am with Photoshop but I am proficient in its use.

I use it mostly as an organizing tool for assembling portfolios and resume files.

Elementary Math

Being as strong as I am in my other mathematics skills, I am very confident that I can instruct someone in basic math in an inspiring manner.

The key is to find how said person relates to subject matter best and use that as a tool in itself.

Elementary Science

I have always been one to wonder how things work, and this curiosity sparked in me an interest in science.

This is another one of my strong points and I really enjoy the reasoning involved in how the world works.

I would like to share that insight with others and see the same joy come from them.

Study Skills

Improving one's study skills can be a simple as having the right list of priorities and being in the proper learning environment.

Through years of self-motivated study, I have learned the attributes needed to get the most out of my study habits and am prepared to happily pass that insight on to other students.

Drawing

Due to my studies in Architecture Design, I have developed my freehand sketching technique quite effectively as it is a required skill to possess in the field.

I specialize in black and white sketches of buildings and backdrop.

I can provide sample drawings via e-mail if so desired.

AutoCAD

As part of my studies in Architecture Design I have become familiar with AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, ReVit, and SketchUp among other modeling and drafting programs involved in the field.

I have a background with Digital Production Drawing classes.

Microsoft Windows

I am a 'do it yourself-er' and have spent a lot of time fiddling with Windows Operating System software and managing problems with Windows for friends and family.

I believe that I can handle intermediate software concerns and be able to teach troubleshooting tactics to others.

I also build my own computers and have a relatively great deal of experience with hardware.

Revit

I have been using Revit for my architecture design projects over the last two years of my college career and have become especially sufficient in the program. I can instruct to the extent of the application from design detailing to conceptual massing.

Architecture

I have an Associate In The Applied Science Of Architecture degree from Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, PA.

I am currently a 4th year student at the NewSchool of Architecture Design in San Diego, CA.
