Statement of Teaching Philosophy
: I strongly believe that sound education does not consist solely of getting excellent grades in school but also includes using learned concepts and theories to improve everyday living to become a better person. As a lifelong learner and a strong believer in the benefits of education, I work hard to help my learners see ways in which they can use what they are learning directly in the classroom through shared examples, engaging discussions and academic inquiry.
My academic experience involves more than 10 years of studying the basic, intermediary and advanced concepts and theories of both microeconomics
. I have developed a strong passion for education in the classroom and interacting with individuals and groups of diverse cultural backgrounds. I have been fortunate to study the concepts of Economics
, across the lens of various academic curricula including my High school education – Baptist High School in Cameroon, my undergraduate education – Covenant University in Nigeria, and graduate studies – University of Maryland Baltimore County in Maryland, USA. During this time my understanding of how important these concepts are to everyday life has been a great benefit from the perspectives of developing nations, as well as developed nations.
Over the last 5 years I have further expanded my teaching experience to include tutoring college level Introductory Microeconomics and Macroeconomics courses. Providing a quality education to others is one way I wish to give back. I truly believe that knowledge is power – my goal is to arm my students accordingly. I am passionate about working with individuals and communities to inspire growth and development both on a personal level and within the academic community. I strongly believe that my unique background and education has fully equipped my with the humility, as well as the drive to instill in my students the love of learning, the benefits of furthering one’s education, and the limitless possibilities that comes with earning a degree.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing a truly inspiring academic experience.
