I currently have a bachelor's degree in psychology and am enrolled in a master's program to receive a degree in forensic psychology. I want to become a criminal investigator working for a government agency. I have a very well-rounded knowledge from previous extracurricular experience as well as a variety of academic knowledge. I have extensive knowledge in the arts and my best college subject was English. The most rewarding class I have ever taken was Public Speaking and it completely changed my ability to speak in front of crowds. I love animals and have a great passion for zoology as well as botany studies. I graduated from SDSU with a 3.2 GPA and am a Psi Chi Honors Society member. I also have a certification for domestic violence counseling and have a certificate of completion for completion of a community service learning peer tutoring program.
I believe that patience is very important when it comes to tutoring. There is a good chance that the student is going to have some moments of frustration and the tutor needs to harness that and not exacerbate it. Things that are fun are also more likely to be remembered and more engaging than things that are not. It is important to try to add some kind of zest to the subject matter. The student needs to be given the courage and confidence to handle the subject that was once so confusing and pointless. I like to do mini quizzes, watch explanatory videos, and use pictures in my lessons. It is also important to determine what kind of learner the student is. Whether it be auditory, visual, or kinesthetic, everyone learns differently and absorbs things in a different fashion.
I was in ballet for 8 years. I started when I was 4 and ended in 7th grade. I performed with California Ballet in the Nutcracker and did various other performances at the del mar fair, performing arts theater, and civic center. I had very strict teachers that accepted nothing less than perfection. Although I do not currently teach ballet, I do teach dance that has some ballet moves in it.
I took art classes all throughout high school and recently passed a college drawing class. My teachers have always told me that I am talented and have an incredible potential in this subject. My father was an artist and my mother is talented with art as well.
