My name is Isabelle and I am from Marseille, France, where I spent the first 25 years of my life. After obtaining a Master's in English at the University of Aix-en-Provence, France, I headed to the University of Utah and completed a Master of Arts in Teaching with French and ESL as my major and minor. There, I also obtained a PhD. in Applied Linguistics with French and ESL as my major and minor as well.
After having taught French and ESL in Salt Lake City for 5 years, my family and I moved to sunny San Diego in 2005 where I have been teaching as a French and ESL adjunct professor in the San Diego Community College District.
Throughout my career, I have instructed and tutored students of all ages from Preschool to Higher Education, both in a school and after school setting, in-home or public places. I am also used to teaching and tutoring students and adults of varied cultural backgrounds with different levels of French/ESL/ESOL, and different needs and interests (exams, SAT, business trips, vacation, hobby, school lessons, etc).
Each lesson is organized according to the student's age--teaching a preschooler requires different techniques and strategies than teaching and adult for instance--or level of proficiency, interests, requirements and benefits, and uses a variety of techniques and strategies to ease you into the language.
I have been successfully teaching and tutoring for 12 years and I just LOVE it!
