Tutoring is a great way for me to stay in tune with my basic subjects and the knowledge I've gained from school. Of the basic subjects I tutor, I am best at tutoring math. As a kid, I struggled with numbers, but as I got older, I picked it up more and more. Because I struggled, I understand how to teach around the students' frustrations and have multiple ways to approach the different lessons. This helps me to customize my teaching style to match the student's learning style. When a student is able to pick up a subject that they once had a hard time with, they start to enjoy it more, and that is what I try to achieve when working with them.
