ADD/ADHD

I am an experienced credentialed teacher who has successfully worked with students with ADD and ADHD. In addition, I have a current Special Education Credential which includes completing both specialized coursework and training working with students with both ADD and ADHD. As a credentialed Resource Specialist and Special Education Educator I have assisted families and fellow educators to develop and implement effective interventions and educational objectives for students with both ADD and ADHD.

Algebra 1

As a credentialed Teacher and experienced Algebra 1 and 2 Tutor I have been asked by my home school district to teach high school GED Math. So far all of my Algebra students have improved their class scores/grades by 2-4 higher grade levels. This also includes tutoring Summer School students in Algebra and Geometry to pass their class and receive graduation credit. I enjoy tutoring math and having your student like and succeed in math skills. I look forward to talking with you soon!

Aspergers

I have a Special Education Teaching credential with an authorization to work with Aspergers students. I have worked successfully as an instructor in both the Orange County Department of Education and Saddleback Valley Unified School District's specially designed classes for Aspergers students.

Autism

As a Special Education credentialed teacher which includes an authorization to teach students with autism I have effectively taught students with autism in school district approved classes. I have served as a Special Education teacher in specially designed classes for autism for both Newport-Mesa Unified School District and for Saddleback Valley Unified School District. My duties included developing and implementing lesson plans in addition to positively utilizing behavior interventions for autistic students. Also, I have organized and supervised important IEP meetings to assist both the student and the IEP team members for the overall positive benefit of the student and his or her family.

Bible Studies

I graduated from BIOLA Bible College, which required all students to complete 30 units of Bible studies classes. I received an 'A' average in these classes. In addition, through the organization Navigators I was trained and taught/led several Bible Study groups on campus. Also, I was hired and served over four years assisting two churches, Cerritos Presbyterian and Norwalk Methodist Church to teach Bible studies to the young adult group and the younger school age group.

CBEST

I have successfully passed all sections of the CBEST.

College Counseling

I have completed two extensive SAT and ACT training sessions. Also, I have attended national and local college fairs each year and participated in their updated college preparation workshops. Frequently I consult with college admission representatives and our local high school Career Center supervisors to assist students preparing their applications for college admissions. I look forward to sharing helpful and current college admission information with your family!

Elementary (K-6th)

I am an experienced and credentialed elementary teacher with an additional credential in Special Education. I have successfully taught full-time first grade, fourth grade, fifth grade and sixth grade. I am currently tutoring second, third, and fourth through sixth grade students at a special tutor center in Irvine. My first teaching credential is a current Professional Clear K-12th grades Teaching Credential.

ESL/ESOL

I have two teaching credentials and a special credential on file with the California Teacher's Commission with an authorization to teach Adults English as a Second Language.

I am a current ESL teacher for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. ESL classes I have taught for SVUSD include Literacy, Multi-level English, and Conversation. I have a state certification, CASAS to administer the Citizenship Interview Test. Since 2001, I have successfully taught ESL for SVUSD. Also, I have taught ESL for Capistrano Valley Unified School District for over five years.

Grammar

With over ten years experience teaching English for the Saddleback Valley Unified School District, I enjoy seeing students succeed in this important subject area. Greek

I graduated from BIOLA Bible college which requires at least 30 units of Bible Studies classes. Greek was required to be studied and Greek word roots researched in order to complete the class assignments. I received an 'A' average in these classes. Also, I have been trained by an Irvine Instructional Center to teach Greek words and their roots.

In addition, I have successfully taught over four classes analyzing/learning Greek words and their Greek roots/parts in sentence contexts.

ISEE

I have successfully taught full-time in private schools and my students have scored in the advanced range on their achievement tests. Also, I am credentialed teacher with positive experiences from students attaining high scores to enter Junior High Honors classes and High School Honors classes. The ISEE has similar style questions to the college entrance test questions of the SAT and ACT which are the additional subjects I regularly tutor in my schedule. In addition, I have received excellent feedback for tutoring students for the ISEE.

Microbiology

I received an A grade in my college level class while in a pre-med., physical therapy program. All of my science classes I achieved A grades. I enjoy teaching science with my two teaching credentials and look forward to teaching your tutor sessions.

Social Studies

I have taught social studies successfully for over 10 years. Topics include American Government and History, World History, Ancient Civilizations, California History, and Geography. Grade levels I have taught social studies are elementary, junior high, high school and adult education. Students have successfully passed both the state testing and improved their classroom grades.

Special Needs

I have a California Special Education Teaching Credential and a Masters in Special Education. Also, I have successfully taught students with Special needs such as learning and speech disabilities. As a credentialed Resource Specialist I taught students with disabilities both in elementary schools and high schools. In addition, I have successfully taught Adult students with learning disabilities. I look forward to tutoring your student!

Study Skills

I have been trained in various study skill methods such as the Cornell note taking method, the Outline Method, and the Mapping Method. In addition, I have successfully passed a StudyPoint SAT training course which has benefited students to study and pass important tests including the SAT exam.

Swimming

I have current CPR and First Aid certification. I have also received repeatedly the Red Cross certification to teach swimming and lifeguard. My favorite swimming strokes to teach in both private and group lessons are freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, elementary backstroke, and lifesaving stroke. Classes I have taught for City Recreation classes include water safety, toddler and parent introduction to swimming, diving, and advanced swimming.

World History

World History is one of my favorite subjects to tutor. Since, twice traveling to Europe and both of my parents are from Europe, I enjoy sharing important World History. Students have improved both their test scores and class grades!

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
