I have lived and taught in CA for over 20 years. Before that I taught in GA., NJ., and NY. I have taught elementary and art and reading.

One of the first things a teacher must remember is all students do not learn the same or at the same speed. Keeping that in mind we as teachers must teach our students with many different ways. This of course is not always easy in a class with over 30 children. So someone like myself comes into the picture to help. When you have the privilege of one-on-one you have the attention to discuss with just one person you/or your child's needs without distraction.

This process doesn't have to be long it depends on the student and their needs and wants. I hope to be a person you find of interest to help you/or your child.

I love kids of all ages and had to leave fulltime for temporary medical but am fine now. Hope to hear from you soon.

Reading

I have taken and passed certification in CA. I also have been a Reading Specialist and have taught many ESL children of all ages. I find reading a very rewarding subject to teach since it is the beginning of education. So many subjects can't be fully taught without the knowledge of reading.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught for over 30 years in 3 different states and under many different environments. I have taught Grades k,1,2,3,4 full time and I have taught in inter-city and private schools also in all ethnic schools such as Afro-American GA and Espanic CA. I have degrees in elementary, English, early childhood and art. I have kept up with any new ways being used in the public system in language arts and health and science such as Bellwork (health and science], and Baldridge Training.

Phonics

I have a degree in reading and have taught phonics with children as young as first and to children as a second language.We first like to be able to recognize all letters and the with pictures we start on sounds of letters. When there is more than one sound such as with vowels we distinguish them.
I also use the rules of long vowel and silent e. Also other rules for phonics.

I have taught many students of all ages to improve skills in reading and writing. I am a Reading Specialist and have a bachelor degree in English.

Tennis

I have loved the game for many years. I coached HS girls tennis for 3 years and their record went from 1-11 to 12-0 in 2 years. I still have a great interest and play as often as I can. My ranking at one time was low A (that's in a league)

Drawing

I have an art degree BFA and taught art in elem. K-8 and special ed. in NY,NJ,and GA.
I have also given drawing lessons in all areas.
I am totally qualified to teach drawing from perspective to shadowing and all other areas.

Painting

Having an art degree a BFA and have taught painting in watercolor, oils, pen and ink and pastels.
I have taught elem. all grades K thru 8 in NY,NJ and GA. I have also taught special ed. with all levels of special areas.

Social Studies

Having taught in 4 states in all grades from k thru 5 and some work in Middle school and a great love of history I feel I am qualified to help and teach others in this area.
When you have had the opportunity to teach in different areas of the country and travelled some to Europe you have first hand knowledge of what is the same or different in these areas and can share that with students who have not had those same experiences.
