Hello!
Thanks for stopping by.
My name's Taylor T. I graduated from Vanderbilt University in May, 2012, where I majored in "Human and Organizational Development" and Spanish. I'm currently employed as a Financial Advisor at my father's retirement and financial planning group, but plan to go back to school in the Fall of 2013 to get my Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from UCI. I speak, write, and read fluently in Spanish (I studied in Buenos Aires for 6 months back in 2010), was inspired to play the guitar by Jack Black back when School of Rock came out in 2003 (which I still practice in much of my spare time), and enjoy Latin American poetry.
In the past, I've worked as an SAT tutor for CollegeSpring (a non-profit test prep company), and consistently was ranked by my students as the most effective group tutor, both in terms of score appreciation as well as interpersonal communication. I pride myself most in my ability to tailor SAT test-taking strategies to each individual student.
(For example, as an ADHD student, I had trouble focusing on the reading section. However, I was able to work with my tutor at the time to develop a strategy where I would read the questions first and, when one of the questions mentioned a specific word or section of the passage, I would go to the passage, annotate said section, and then repeat that process for all of the questions before going through and reading the passage. As I would read through the passage, when I would come across the words I had underlined, I would direct my focus to that sentence, and then answer the question regarding that annotation immediately, in order to avoid having to waste time and reread sections of the passage.)
I am comfortable and have private experience tutoring all levels of Math and Spanish. I've worked effectively and successfully with special needs students, children, and students with ADD/ADHD. I have never formally charged for guitar lessons, but would be happy to teach you if you'd like to learn.
I look forward to hearing from you- have a wonderful day!
