I am a passionate, dedicated, and reflective teacher. I have been teaching since I was twelve - I was an Assistant Kempo Karate Instructor and gained experience teaching all ages. I continued to teach karate for five years and received my black belt in Kempo Karate when I was eighteen years old. Through karate I matured quickly and learned patience, honesty, and dedication.
I graduated with my bachelor's degree in English Literature
from the University of Arizona in December 2012. During my undergraduate studies, I was nominated to precept for a general studies anthropology
course titled "Race, Ethnicity, and the American Dream," which taught about racism in America. I helped lead class discussions, online communications, and field trips. It was a powerful class and a powerful experience for teachers and students alike.
In the summer of 2013 I taught at a camp in Mexico and during the 2013-2014 school year I taught in a first through third grade
classroom at a Montessori School, which were both incredible opportunities. I love working with kids because they are so enthusiastic and full of energy, and their discoveries are so essential.
It is important to me to do work that I feel makes a positive difference. I love teaching because I know I am helping improve someone's knowledge and therefore their ability and opportunity to contribute or "pay it forward" as well.
August 2014 I started my master's program at San Diego State University in Creative Writing
. I know that a good teacher continues learning and growing, with, from, and alongside their students.
I look forward to hearing from you!

Some teachers regularly lift students' test scores, while others leave their students with below-average results year after year. This can happen right next door from each other; same grade, same building. Results from dozens of studies point to the same
most significant factor-a good teacher is the single greatest influence on a student's chance at success.

A charming town with a rich cultural history, Álamos, Sonora also has a disproportionate distribution of wealth, and scarce educational resources. The children of Álamos wished for a summer camp - something to do during the long hot summer months. Summer
learning has proven to be of great benefit to children. For these children, it would be a very special opportunity.
