Although I have always had an inclination toward analytical subjects, I was only able to fully develop those skills after college. Completing college with a double major preceded my entrance into the business of health care. Within a few short years, my responsibilities grew with the expanding company. I found myself overseeing five business offices within the health care field. As the company added facilities, I found myself teaching new staff on procedures and techniques, particularly when computer hardware and software systems were not only introduced but also upgraded.
Over the course of many years, this pattern repeated itself. Several times, the local health care association requested that I develop and make presentations on the latest financial issues involved within our industry. The feedback received, both from teaching on a personal level as well as at the group level, has been enthusiastically positive with regards to my abilities. Frankly, I have found it personally gratifying to help others develop a useful understanding. I get excited when others grasp a concept and are able to apply it!!
During my over 20 years tenure within offices at health care offices and accounting firms, I have had the ability to become familiar with a variety of software programs. In particular, I am capable of teaching QuickBooks, do basic accounting, and use Microsoft Office software including e-mailing. I have also become familiar with other software programs such as Quicken, MAS90, Fortis, and completing database conversions. I am not afraid to try new programs!!
