I am a retired mathematics college professor. All through my years of teaching mathematics, I have been fortunate to have taught students of practically every age group. Upon graduation with my B.A. degree in mathematics, I started teaching an elementary mathematics course at San Jose State University. At the same time, I worked for a private educational project, Project S.E.E.D., Inc. (Special Elementary Education for the Disadvantaged).
In Southern California, I have been teaching college and high school mathematics since 1980. My unique method of teaching mathematics, which was the topic of my dissertation, is one through which the student is constantly involved in the learning process, and is encouraged to "discover" the topic that is being presented. The student is never is scolded and or blamed if her or his response is other than what is mathematically relevant.
Now that I am retired and not teaching college and university students, I would like to practice and enjoy the art of teaching mathematics through tutoring students, and helping them be proud of their own discoveries in the topic that was always thought to be "difficult and hard to understand".
I have successfully taught many mathematical subjects, e.g.,PreAlgebra through College Algebra, College Geometry, Trigonometry, PreCalculus, and the first semester of Calculus. I use a teaching method that is unique, i.e., I help my students "Discover" what I am helping them learn. So, since the students are encouraged to find the answers to my questions, they will be able to excel at the material learned, and also, they will retain the subject for a much longer period of time.
I have been a college mathematics professor throughout my career, and have taught all levels of Algebra (elementary, intermediate, and college) numerous times. The mentioned courses are higher than the high school Algebra I and II courses. During my over two decades of being a college mathematics professor and a high school mathematics teacher, I also worked at the college Tutoring Lab, and tutored hundreds of students in all levels of Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and trigonometry. Furthermore, I prepared numerous worksheets, quizzes, and tests for my high school and college mathematics students.
All levels of Algebra, from Pre-Algebra to Algebra I, II, and College Algebra are subjects that I have tutored and taught practically all high school and college mathematics courses since I first started teaching mathematics at San Jose State College back in 1973.
Pre-Calculus which used to be called Finite or Business Math is basically equivalent to the course College Algebra with many applications in Business problems. That is, many abstract algebraic topics are presented together with their practical and/or applications to problems in Business and Social Sciences.
Trigonometry is the study of angles and their relations to each other through constructing functions on the basis of the degree of radiant measurement of them as shown within a triangle or a circle. For instance, the "Sinus" of an angle(other than the right angle)in a right triangle is the numerical value of the quotient of the opposite side of that angle and the hypotenuse of the triangle.
There are six defined functions in trigonometry: Sine, Cosine, Tangent, Cotangent, Secant, and Co-secant That are defined by using the ratios of the measurements of the side of a right triangle.
After the trigonometric functions are introduced and discussed, there are numerous relations and properties of various trigonometric functions with each other, all of which are defined and utilized according to their numerous applications in real life, sciences, and nature.
Also, each of the six trigonometric functions can be represented by its own graphical representation, which again, has examples and uses in nature and real life sciences. Just as there are algebraic equations that are studied, solved, and help the understanding of, discoveries in, and expansion of sciences, there are also trigonometric equations, using various trigonometric functions, that have numerous applications in physical, natural, life, and space sciences, to only name a few.
I have several years of experience in teaching remedial mathematics both at college and high school levels. I taught Pre-Elementary Algebra (Basic Arithmetic) at "BOOST" (Broadened opportunity for Officer selection and Training-SDCCD), "BEST" (Basic Essential Skills and talents-SDSU), and "Upward Bound"-UCSD over a span of two decades. I have the full patience, understanding, and compassion required to teach the beginning elementary mathematics.
I was born in Iran, and lived and completed my high school with Honors. My concentration field in high school was mathematics, and after my arrival in the U.S., I completed my BA and MA in Mathematics. My doctoral dissertation was concentrated on a unique method for teaching mathematics, that is, a combination of Socratic or "Discovery" method uniquely combined with the techniques of "positive reinforcement".
I am quite fluent in English and Farsi as I not only had the highest grades in my high school Persian Literature subjects, but my Farsi is impeccable according to my Iranian acquaintances, colleagues, and family.

I am well-qualified to tutor students in Geometry because not only have I taught Plane Geometry at college and high school over the number of years of my being a college mathematics professor and a high school mathematics teacher, but I have transcribed Plane Geometry curricula for the "Upward Bound" summer program at UCSD, "BOOST"(Broadened Opportunity for Officer Election and Training)for SDCCD, and "BEST" program (Basic Essential Skills and Talents)at SDSU. I have taught mathematics at colleges, universities, and high schools for three decades. During my tenure as a mathematics professor at college, there have been a number of occasions when I was scheduled to teach lower Algebra courses, and therefore I was scheduled to teach Prealgebra on several occasions. Furthermore, I taught Prealgebra at the SDSU's Academic Skills and BEST (Basic Educational Skills & Talents) program, UCSD's Upward Bound program, and, at the BOOST (Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training) program for the US Navy. The foregoing were only a few of the specific times when I taught Prealgebra. I have been a college mathematics professor since 1978 in the San Diego County.
Precalculus is a course that is theoretically higher than College Algebra, and is intended to prepare the students for the understanding of higher concepts, and more rigorous calculations, that are required in Calculus. The course basically reviews the Algebraic topics and concepts of College Algebra at a slightly higher level, and stops short of introducing the abstract topics of continuity and limits that are essential abstract mathematical topics the understanding of which are essential for success in Calculus.
Back in the late seventies and early 80's I used to work for the Study Skills Department of San Diego State university, teaching the mathematics portion of the program.
The mathematics part of the program was composed of basically very elementary Arithmetic, Algebra (Elementary, Intermediate, and College), and Plane Geometry, that high school students should have mastered before entering college.
I was the instructor of mathematics for the Study skills program at San Diego State University. Also, I worked at several summer programs, and worked for BOOST (Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training) from 1987 to 1991, where I was the Mathematics Instructor of the program.
