Flute

I have a Bachelor's in Music Performance--Flute from the California State University of Fullerton and a Master's in Music Performance--Flute from the University of North Texas. I have been teaching flute for several years privately, in studios, in high schools, and in group classes. I have prepared several students for success in competitions and college scholarship auditions. I am also active as a performer and freelancer.

Music History

I have studied Music History for several years. Along with the core curriculum required for every music major, I did a related field (basically a minor) in Music History/Musicology during my Masters at the University of North Texas. I have studied Musicology extensively and have studied the methodology behind Music History. I have also written several papers on a variety of topics in Music History.

Music Theory

I have been studying music theory for a number of years when I was younger and in high school. I also took all the necessary theory courses during my undergraduate, and also studied advanced music theory and analysis. I also did some analysis and theory during my masters degree.

Piano

I was classically trained in piano for 8 years before i began to play the flute. Although flute is my main instrument, I also took piano classes during my Bachelors and Masters degree. I have experience teaching beginning level piano to younger students. In the Dallas area I taught several group piano classes for students ages 5-8, and I also taught privately.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
