I have 4 years of college tutoring experience, working as a biology tutor at Beloit College and was a Biostatistics TA as a freshman. Additionally, I spent the last summer teaching intermediate and advanced English to two children (9 and 11) in Istanbul, Turkey. I have also volunteered teaching reading skills to first and second graders at an elementary school in Beloit, WI.
I graduated summa cum laude, with departmental honors in both Environmental Biology and Creative Writing, so I am well equipped to teach both biology and English. I am particularly adept at ecology, environmental sciences, remediation/restoration, biostatistics, genetics, essay writing, creative writing and literature. During college I won several awards including, being the top freshman in environmental science, the top sophomore/junior in marine biology and the senior who was the outstanding biology scholar. I have lived and studied in the Galapagos islands and have done research with the Galapagos National Park about sea lion populations and behavior.
I recently took the GRE and scored a perfect score on the writing section (6.0) and in the 93rd percentile on the verbal.
In high school, I graduated with a 4.6 GPA from Claremont High School. I scored a 5 on the Biology, Environmental Science and US History AP tests and a 4 on the English Composition and US Government tests.
I have taken 2 years of college level Spanish and lived in Ecuador with a Spanish speaking host family for 5 months, so am capable of tutoring introductory Spanish.
