I am a transplant, first-generation immigrant from Taiwan. Came to the US when I was 13 years old. Chinese Mandarin is obviously my first language. I am much older than 13 now, of course. Disclaimer: I don't have any tutoring experience when it comes to language but if you are looking to learn conversational Mandarin, improving your pronunciation, or even perfecting your accent, I am your ideal choice!
My approach to learning to speak Mandarin is simple. I will speak to you in Mandarin as if you are a buddy of mine and if there is a request for a more formal way of speech, I would be more than happy to accommodate that. The main emphasis is to learn to speak Mandarin in a relaxing and comfortable environment because we all learn, absorb, and process the most information when we are feeling relaxed and comfortable, agreed?
Most language classes and instructors do not emphasize on speech, but rather on grammar or writing. My emphasis is solely on speech because that's the most practical and basic aspect of learning a language.
I spent one year in ESL class learning English so I know exactly how you feel about learning and speaking a new language. Memorizing vocabulary and practicing conversations diligently with native speakers are the two key elements to quickly learning any new language. At least, that was how I learned the English language.
If you like or agree my approach and philosophy in learning to speak Mandarin, the rest should be easy and flowing.
