As a returned U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer (2010-2012), I've had extensive experience both teaching and tutoring students from the unmotivated to the disadvantaged. As a secondary school teacher in a rural community off the coast of Mozambique, with little to no resources at my disposal, I've developed innovative methods to help students struggling with English, basic math and science, and computer literacy. Throughout my 4 years teaching around the world (Mozambique, Dominican Republic, and India), I taught 12 classes of roughly 50-60 students each, as well as managed 6 separate community programs in journalism/photography, science and technology, visual & performing arts, adult literacy, girls' and young women's mentorship, and small business development. In addition to my international teaching experiences, I've been tutoring students of all ages (from pre-K-12 to university students) in both English and math from diverse backgrounds across Los Angeles County. I love working with students who are both enthusiastic about learning and engaged in their futures and hope that beyond simply tutoring students, I might be able to help them realize their educational and professional goals.
