Dear Parents,
My name is Renee and I can tutor your child in K-6th grade subjects. I teach language arts (phonics, grammar, writing, and reading) and K-6th grade math. My phonics program is very structured as we cover each of the word families. Phonics teaches the sounds of letters and letter combinations that form words. Once a child learns the letter sounds they will then be able to read. Upon meeting, I will determine the beginning level of phonics for your child. I will introduce a particular phonic sound and then provide a words that focuses on that particular phonic lesson. Other items I may use in the lessons are reading books, spelling worksheets, and games. I can recommend books for your child to read on his own and/or with parent.
In deciding to home-school my older son, I searched the world over for phonics programs. And, in doing so I have gathered resources that I feel make a wonderful phonics program. I taught my now 8 year old how to read at age 4. And his phonics lessons continue with spelling. He is an excellent reader, reading well above his grade level. I have an A.A. in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Cerritos Community College, B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from California State University of Fullerton. I have a CBEST Certificate. I am a stay at home mom who home-schools her 2 sons. I taught one son to read am in the process of teaching my second son and nephew, and can teach your child to read, also.
