Hello,

I have been a Biologist in many different settings, from BioChemical Manufacturing to Conservation at a National Park.

I have always gotten along with young people of all ages & I am a father myself.

As far as my tutoring style or methods are concerned, I am interested in providing a clear understanding of the given material in order to give confidence in the subject. I feel that this approach will allow the student to be successful, not only during test taking, but in class discussion OR showing off in the hallway. Of course I'm always willing to discuss any questions along the way.

I have a BS in Biology... all major subjects and labs completed with high marks. I have worked in several situations as a Biologist from field work to lab work.

Chemistry

I have a Chemistry minor in conjunction with my major in Biology... all requisite courses and labs were completed. I have worked in several situations in a Chemical Laboratory setting.

Grammar

I have always been successful when incorporating grammatical rules into my sentence structure. I have had many College level courses dealing with Grammar. I have worked as a Technical writer.

Reading

I was an English/Literature major before I switched to Biology. I have been a successful reader since Kindergarten. I have worked as a Technical Writer which involves a large amount of reading. I have a firm grasp on phonics and phonetics, as well as grammar.

Writing

I have worked as a Technical Writer. All of my college career, as well as much of my High School, was spent writing essays and various other papers. I was an English major before I switched to Biology.

English

I have had many College level English courses. I have worked as a Technical writer.

Literature

I have had many college level courses in Literature, and was previously majored in this subject before changing to Biology. I was an AP English/Literature student in High School.

Proofreading

I have worked as a Technical Writer which includes an enormous amount of editing and proofreading. I was an English major, which of course involves proofreading one's own work.

Ecology

I have received high marks in my undergraduate Ecology class. I also have a BS in Biology. I have worked in an Ecological position in an active conservation capacity for a National Park.

Botany

My BS has a Botany emphasis. I have been given high marks in General Botany, Plant Anatomy & Morphology, Plant Physiology, Plant Taxonomy, and Plant Ecology.

Video Production

I have taken college level courses in Video Production and TV Practicum including Crash editing, media transfer, digital editing, time code, voice over, music, effects, stage/set design & management, live broadcasting. My professional experience includes Movie/Video technician in media transfer department and Video Sales.

Photography

I have spent 5 years as a Camera Salesperson/ Movie and Film Technician. I have worked as Professional Photographer and photofinishing Technician. I have had classroom training in Photography and DarkRoom techniques, Camera operation, using a Meter, judging exposure, composition, studio & set design techniques, lighting, developing, processing, & printing using digital & analog media.

Microbiology

I have completed a MicroBiology course as part of my BS in Biology; this covered Bacteria, Algae, & Viruses, Microscopy, cell anatomy, metabolism, genetics. Additionally, a practical Laboratory course associated with this class provided sterilization, plating, and incubating exercises.

Film

I spent 5 years as a Camera Salesperson/ Movie and Film Technician. I have had some classroom photography and Video Production as well. Movie Film, Camera operation, & cutting/editing; also developing/processing, and printing from photographic film.
