My name is Elizabeth C., and I am an undergraduate student studying Molecular Biology at UC San Diego. I graduated from high school with a weighted 4.1 average, and I received a 2300 on the SAT. I received a 229 on the PSAT, and I am a National Merit Finalist. I am confident in my abilities to tutor other students in subjects they are struggling in such as math, science, English, and language.

I have experience in explaining different concepts to my peers and leading discussions on various topics. I believe that it is the tutor's job to pinpoint exactly what the student's weaknesses are and mending those gaps. Having been tutored and having tutored other people has given me insight on what a good tutor is like and what a bad tutor is like. With these experiences, I am able to help students in figuring out what they need most out of our lessons and how to deliver instruction effectively.

Algebra 1

I took Honors Algebra 1 in 8th grade, and since then have taken honors level math classes through high school including Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus BC. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I am confident in teaching Algebra 1.

Algebra 2

I took Honors Algebra 2 in 10th grade, and have taken honors level math classes through high school including Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus BC. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I am confident in teaching Algebra 2.

Biology

I am majoring in Molecular Biology at UC San Diego, so I am personally very interested in the subject. I took AP Biology in 11th grade, and received a 5 on the AP Bio exam. I am confident and passionate about teaching biology.

Calculus

I took AP Calculus BC my senior year of high school, and received a 5 on the AP Calc BC exam as well as a 5 on the AP Calc AB subscore. I am definitely qualified and I am experienced in tutoring Calculus.

Prealgebra

I took pre-Algebra in 7th grade, and since then have taken honors level math classes through middle and high school including Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus BC. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I am confident in teaching pre-Algebra.

Precalculus

I took Honors Pre-Calculus in 11th grade, and have taken other honors level math classes through high school including Geometry, Algebra 2, and AP Calculus BC. I received a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam. I am confident in teaching Pre-Calculus.

Spanish

I started learning Spanish in the 4th grade, and studied it all through elementary, middle, and high school. I took Spanish 1-4 and AP Spanish in high school. My Spanish grammar skills are very strong, and I am able to converse relatively fluently.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have volunteered at an after-school daycare/program that takes care of children from kindergarten through fifth grade. The program not only gave the children time to play, but also gave them time and helped them in their homework and computer skills. I have experience in handling children, and I am very patient in teaching them different concepts.

Chinese

I was born in America, but I attended Chinese School since I was in preschool until I was in 8th grade. I am fluent in both, so I have no trouble explaining concepts in English. I can converse well in Chinese, and have learned to read and write as well. I was taught in Traditional Chinese, so that is what I know how to read and write, not Simplified Chinese.

Genetics

I have learned about the genetics of DNA since I was in sixth grade and was very interested so I became a Molecular Biology major in college. I enjoyed the subject very much in AP Biology, and received a 5 on the AP test. DNA is one of the most amazing structures in the world.
