At the age of 19, I began learning Mandarin Chinese at the United States Air Force Academy. I was immediately fascinated by the language and made mastering it a top priority in my life. My time at the Academy was cut short after I decided to move to Taiwan and provide service to the people there, while at the same time building my reading, writing, listening, and especially speaking skills in Mandarin. Now, after living there for two years, I am currently pursuing the next level of Mandarin study as an undergraduate at the University of California at San Diego by taking Mandarin classes intended for native speakers and by actively participating in Chinese and Taiwanese student clubs on campus.
My previous occupation was a teacher at a Chinese Martial Arts and Language after school program, also located in San Diego called Golden Dragon. During the fall of 2012 I studied abroad at Taiwan's best university, National Taiwanese University and was able to conduct daily language exchange with my local friends and classmates! My philosophy is that learning is limitless, and my passion for learning Mandarin has allowed me to learn it fluently over the past four years. I hope to inspire you with this same passion and as I assist in effectively helping you achieve your Mandarin Chinese language goals!
