I believe education is the key to a healthy mindset and helps regulate not only our minds, but our outlook on life. After caring for my own children as a stay-at-home mom for over ten years, I decided to go back to school to pursue my own dreams of obtaining my teaching credential and Masters. I have a Multiple-Subjects Credential a Masters in Reading
, and I'm pursuing my Single-Subject Credential in Math
for Middle School students.
I currently work in a nearby school district. I have worked with children in all grades ranging from Kindergarten
through eighth grade. In addition, I have volunteered regularly for the past nine years to lead kindergarten and first grade
Response to Intervention groups, and have had various other responsibilities at the school. I recently received the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award at Plaza Vista because of my dedication to education.
On a weekly basis, I tutor students who need intervention with Reading and Writing
, English Language
Learners, and students who struggle in Math. I confer with their teachers regularly to provide interventions that will help them be successful inside and outside the classroom. Outside of school involvement, I work with children Kindergarten and under at Irvine Presbyterian modifying learning materials to differentiate and meet the needs of all learners. These experiences have given me the confidence to modify lessons and create new instructional strategies.
Since students may struggle making connections with their peers or feel intimidated in a traditional classroom environment, I believe it is important to provide them with the support they need outside of the classroom. This support comes from not only assessing the student's academic achievements, but also the social behaviors and environment that impact the success of the student. Observing these interactions needs to be done from a qualified candidate who can not only recognize these factors, but who can recommend techniques and strategies for the child to be successful when they work independently.
I will help students achieve their goals and develop their dreams. I believe in offering support and guidance in all areas of interest to the student and going above what is expected of me.
