My education at Loyola Marymount University and the University of Phoenix has helped me to develop a well-rounded knowledge base. I played baseball in college and have continued playing professionally, all while continuing to learn in order to put myself in a position for long-term success. I hope to pass along my knowledge and skills to students who are eager to learn.

My strong suits are math, English, writing, and advanced level business classes including finance, economics, accounting, statistics, and management. I am working on my master's in business administration with a concentration in accounting through the University of Phoenix. Currently, I am about a year and half through the two year program. I have been completing this program while traveling and playing professional baseball throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Through my experience, I will be able to provide guidance for students in time management and how to incorporate studying into their busy schedules.

I believe in challenging students with all they can handle and making learning fun by using the students' outside interests to help facilitate the learning process. I want students that I help to be successful and benefit in the long run.

Being a professional athlete, I have learned to adapt to performing in many different environments to excel in the classroom and on the field. I can relate to the time crunch faced by students who have extracurricular activities. I am also available to give private lessons in baseball, fitness, and nutrition; areas in which I have applied myself to learn more about in order to help myself in my career.

I am flexible with my time and can usually accept on short notice. I look forward to helping contribute to your success!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Baseball

I have been playing professional baseball since 2006 after playing for four years in college at Loyola Marymount University. In the offseason, I work out at different high schools and colleges, helping kids there when the opportunity presents itself.

Elementary Math

Math is my strongest subject and while I know some people may struggle with elementary math, I am able to help them learn by providing a basic, logical approach. Some people may freak out when it comes to math, but I am a calming influence that can provide the help needed to overcome the fear of math.

Fitness

Being a professional athlete, I have learned how to properly train and care for my body with proper workouts and techniques. I participate in high intensity training in order to stay in shape and have developed an acumen for getting in good shape.

Nutrition

As a professional baseball player, I pay close attention to nutrition and how it helps and detracts from the body. Learning from experienced strength and nutrition coaches has given me a solid base on which to build from my experiences.

I maintain a close eye on my personal nutrition, which can help to explain to others the basis behind eating certain types of foods and maintaining certain types of diets. I do not believe in not eating to lose weight, but rather eating correctly and consistently.

Proofreading

Proofreading gets lost due to the ease of autocorrect on the computer. I am meticulous in my proofreading because I cannot stand when I turn in a paper that has mistakes. I want to be graded on the content of my work rather than docked for sloppy mistakes, which is why proofreading is so important.

SAT Math

I received close to a perfect score on my math portion when I took the SAT. The SAT math is based on logic and there should be a different approach than simple math problems. It is important to read the question thoroughly and form a general idea about the answer to a question. Then, through reading and calculating, you will result in the answer that best answers the question. The important part is to stay focused and not rush through the test.

Sociology

My experience in this field is based on my degree in Sociology. My studies have helped me relate to people I work with and provide an understanding on certain topics, including criminal justice, deviant behavior, feminism, and foreign interactions. I have used XPSS as a research tool to provide data in order to work on my thesis and can guide users of that database in order to help them narrow down their studies.
