Hi, I’m Elizabeth. I tutor in writing, reading, and English. I've worked with middle school, high school, undergraduate, ESL, and graduate students, and am especially interested in working with students on their personal statements and application essays.
About myself: I have a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a B.A. in English from Ohio State University. At Ohio State, I worked as a writing tutor at the Writing Center. I worked with graduate, undergraduate, and ESL students in one-on-one tutorials to improve their academic and professional writing. Specifically, I helped students revise and improve their research papers, dissertations, funding proposals, resumes, and personal statements.
I have also worked as a technical writer at a medical device company, volunteered to represent children’s interests in court as a guardian ad litem, coached undergraduates in speech and debate, and am a published writer of short stories.
As a tutor, my goal is to help the student articulate his or her viewpoints both verbally and in writing. In my work, I frequently interviewed clients for this very purpose; I have always found it to be one of the most rewarding aspects of the job, since communicating the small details and explaining their relevancy can make the difference in making a persuasive argument. Tutoring is a two-way process, and the more information and effort you can provide me, the more I can do to maximize our time together.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Please let me know if you have questions, and I look forward to working with you!
