Hi, my name is Michael! I am originally from Japan, but I grew up and graduated from high school in Hawaii. I am a junior level mechanical engineering student currently at The University of California, Irvine. My passion for the subjects of math and science are ultimately the reason why I want to be an engineer. I have recently been learning math from a professor at Irvine Valley College, who obtained his PhD in mathematics from Stanford University. Although, I have no professional experience in tutoring math, I have tutored students unofficially at school in my various math and physics classes. For my experience in tennis, I am a former number 1 junior, and I am currently thinking about trying to walk onto UCI's tennis team. I am currently being coached by a former ATP player and have practiced with professional players as well. I do have prior experience teaching tennis. For my experience with guitar, I have been consistently playing for about 9 years, mostly electric guitar but able to do acoustic too. My playing style is mostly towards the rock genres, some blues and some classical pieces. I also do not have professional experience with teaching guitar but have instructed friends throughout high school and college.
NOTE: I am an engineering major, not a math major, so as much as I want to know theory and proofs, they aren't my forte. I can help guide the student on the proof or theory to understand what it is saying in my own words. I'm sorry if this is an inconvenience.
