Hello, my name is Daniel and I have been tutoring in various subjects for around five years now. My expertise is in SAT reading/writing/math, core subjects (English, math, science, history) for elementary/middle/high school, flute, Korean, and Japanese.
I am a bilingual in English and Korean and am conversant in Japanese. My concentration was in Industrial and Operations Engineering and sub-concentration in Japanese Language and Cultures, at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. I am currently a full-time engineer working in the automotive industry (Engineering Design) designing automobiles for a major manufacturer.
Since I am employed full-time, I would like to tutor after work (5pm) and on Saturday (anytime). My primary objective is to help students understand the concepts and methods of the subjects they struggle with. My secondary purpose is to teach students how to manage time on both immediate and long-term scales (planning, budgeting time, etc.).
My philosophy of teaching is "The Joy of Learning", thus enjoying the process of learning rather than obsessing with the end result (good grades, etc.). Positive results always follow with positive process. It is extremely important that students enjoy what they learn and be able to share the wealth of knowledge.
I look forward to working with you/your children!
I have been playing flute for nearly fifteen years. I have also given lessons to several students who were beginners learning the instrument. I was able to teach them solid foundations, allowing them to be able to read music, play the scores, and perform duets with myself.
Korean is my native language and I have maintained fluency throughout the years I have lived in the U.S. I have also learned and minored in Japanese (which is grammatically identical to Korean), so I know how to systematically approach a beginner learning Korean. I have also taught Korean before with a student taking a Korean class.
