A little bit about myself,
I am an outgoing 25 year old math and science tutor who has been teaching and coaching for 6 years now. I am originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, but chose to stay in California after majoring in Biochemistry at UCLA. As a tutor I am successful because I truly understand where students get tripped up during their thought process! I do not assume a student has prior knowledge of a subject and do not ever pass judgement if a certain concept or skill has not been picked up along the way. I am friendly and very approachable and always encourage students to tell me exactly what they are thinking. I don't want to know what they don't understand, I want to know what steps they have taken right up to the point that they get stuck, so that we can fix the underlying problem. Once we have identified the problem, I teach based on a student's unique learning style until the concepts click and the student can confidently work through the class material.
Some additional information:
1. When you reserve an appointment time, it is my responsibility to provide you with excellent tutoring in a professional and timely manner. Since tutoring is a service based business, I am paid per session. It is therefore my policy to request payment for forgotten or willfully missed appointments that are not cancelled with at least 24-hours notice. If an appointment is cancelled within the 24-hour window, a cancellation fee will be assessed for the price of 1 hour of tutoring.
2. Due to overwhelming demand this year and to maximize the number of students I can help, my minimum lesson time is 90 minutes. In my experience, TWO 90-min sessions a week are a lot more effective than 3 60-min sessions. 1 hour just isn't enough to get to the heart of an issue, especially in math and science classes.
3. Students who wish to book a regular time slot will be given priority weekday tutoring spots.
