I immigrated to U.S from China at age 12 and am currently studying at Irvine Valley College and have a GPA of 3.91. During high school, I took AP Chinese as well as the AP Exam (score 5), while tutoring Chinese and History at the school library for two years. In China, I received third place in the national writing contest at age of 13. In California, I received third place in the Southern California Chinese Calligraphy contest at age of 16. I tutored outside of my high school for a year as well. I am currently taking Japanese, so I really understand what it takes to learn a new language. I do not have a teaching system like most school teachers; however, I rather identify and find out what the students' goals are and then establish a system that fits them. I am able to teach anything in Chinese that ranges from basic pinyin to the SAT subject test as well as the Chinese AP Exam. I believe setting a goal is critical to the learning of students, mainly because it provides a sense for students in terms of what to look for when I tutor them. The principle of my teaching is simple: useful and easy to remember.
