The realm of literature and all it contains for me--teaching people to analyze, appreciate, write, learn, and revel in our shared humanity--is my forte and great joy.
My Background:
I graduated from Smith College with a degree in literature (drama concentration). I am licensed to teach English to high school students and I am a licensed health educator; I intend to achieve theatre teaching certification to supplement my English teaching credential. At Smith I was the recipient of a Dana Teaching Grant scholarship, which furthered my teaching pursuits, and I was also featured in the Smith Alumnae Quarterly for my teaching personality and dedication to the practice. I have copious experience teaching children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings--I've headed and assisted with pedagogy concerning dance moves and music, dystopian literature, fencing coaching, modern-world Hamlet interpretations, and proofreading skills, to name a few. My various assignments have allowed me to work with all ages of students, preschool through adult.
Current Work:
I work as a health educator for a local medical office. I also am a teacher for 2 separate enrichment academies in Irvine, one of which is ESL-centered and the other of which focuses on college prep. I have 4 private students at the moment and this number is slated to expand in the next few weeks. I am the president of an Orange County collegiate club. I recently accepted a position as the education director for Green Seas, a newly-created humanitarian aid organization.
Work in Progress:
I am developing curriculum for a teen leadership program that I will institute beginning next academic year. Keep your eyes peeled!
A Few Tidbits About me:
I adore my cat, I'm learning to surf, I love running, I love pasta, I love fencing, and I'm a slam poet. My interests are immensely vast and varied.
I truly welcome any and all inquiries and very much look forward to talking with you about you and your/your child's tutoring needs. I think I could work wonders for you! Thank you so much for reading.
