Learn the basics of the drawing and color tools of the graphics industry's premier choice for decades. One of the biggest hurdles Illustrator students face is mastering the pen tool, crucial to drawing what's in your head. I quickly communicate that ability, then teach how to draw basic geometric figures and custom figures. From there, we color them and their borders in many ways. Next, you learn to create and color text, manipulating it for exactly the look you want. Then you'll learn to add any photos and drawings to create compelling, communicative graphics!
In my training, you'll learn both the basic tools, and advanced tools to allow you to make your photos look the best. You'll learn how to effectively use: selection tools, crop tool, healing brush, brush tool, clone stamp tool, history brush, art history brush, erasers, gradient tool, paint bucket tool, the blur, sharpen, and smudge tools, the dodge, burn, and smudge tools, the pen tool, text tools, the figure, lines and custom shape tools, the eyedropper, hand, and zoom tools. You'll also learn: how to manipulate light with Levels and Curves; how to create colors for the Web and for print; how to increase your design power using layers; how to sharpen the best ways; how to use filters for wonderful visual effects; how to save an oddly shaped selection; how to change colors of designated objects; keyboard shortcuts to speed up your work; how to select difficult things quickly.
I was born in the U.S. and always scored well in English exams. In college at Southeast Missouri State University, I minored in English, and was invited to join an honors English fraternity, Sig Tau Delta. During high school and college, I also was asked to write commercials at the two commercial radio stations for which I was an announcer, DJ, and newscaster. Now, primarily working as a Web designer and graphic designer, I compose text for ads, web pages, social media, posters, flyers, business cards, and videos. I also proofread for website analysis.
I started working professionally with PowerPoint in 1991 as the lead designer for American Turnkey (later renamed Optum) in Santa Ana. I designed many presentations for this corporation for eight years. I designed PPT presentations for Lexus, logistics software companies, CPAs, Web designers, graphic designers, plumbers, and auctioneers. I taught Advanced and Beginning Photoshop at Learning Tree University for four years.
