Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have tutored in Algebra for years. This includes reviewing the material, helping with homework, and getting ahead in Algebra.

Aspergers

I am currently in school for my Master of Arts in special education. I was a behavior therapist and worked with children with Asperger's in their homes one-on-one. I would assist the children in their socialization skills as well as help them cope with living day-to-day.

Autism

I received my Master of Arts in special education. I have been a behavior therapist and worked with children with autism in their homes one-on-one. I would assist the children in their socialization skills as well as help them cope with living day-to-day. I have also taught and tutored children with autism.

Bible Studies

I have been a Christian for half my life. I have been a Bible school teacher off and on while attending church. I was also a Bible teacher for 3 years at a private Christian school.

Drawing

I have been an artist most of my life. I took art classes off and on most of my life. I was a fine arts student during part of my undergrad education. I also took several classes in art education while getting my master's degree. I continue to create drawings in my own time.

Elementary (K-6th)

I received my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I have spent most of my 11 years in education with elementary students. I taught 2nd, 5th and 6th grade in private and public schools. I have also tutored elementary students for several years.

English

I have taught and tutored in English for over 11 years. I can help you with grammar, writing, conversation skills and anything else you need help with in relations to English. I gear my sessions to the needs of the student. I look forward to helping you improve your English!

I have spent many of my 11 years in education teaching and tutoring students in grammar.

Literature

I have been teaching and tutoring literature for 11 years.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have taught and tutored using PowerPoint for 11 years.

Microsoft Word

I have taught and tutored using Word for 11 years.

Prealgebra

I have taught and tutored in pre-algebra for several years.

Proofreading

I have tutored students in proofreading with excellent results.

Reading

I have taught and tutored students in K-12 in reading. I tutor students in reading based on their specific needs. This may include reading aloud, answering comprehension questions, and fluency.

Special Needs

I have my Master of Arts degree in Special Education. I was a behavior therapist for children with ASD. I would tutor the children in their homes, assisting them in learning day-to-day activities. I am currently an educational assistant in a special education classroom. I assist the teacher in helping the students with reading and math in small groups and one-on-one.

Study Skills

As a teacher and tutor for years, it has been essential for me to integrate study skills into other subjects I teach to my students. As a recent graduate of college I can also relate to a student how important it is to receive and maintain study skills. I managed to work full-time and take classes for my master's degree. I received excellent grades in all my classes, despite the demands in school and at my job. Let me help you in your quest to earn great grades! I can give you great tips on how to balance your life with work, school, and play and still get those desirable grades!

Vocabulary

I have taught and tutored students with vocabulary for years.

Writing

I have taught and tutored writing for years. I taught 2nd, 5th and 6th grade writing, as well as tutored writing for K-12. I can also assist college and graduate students in writing. I recently received my master's degree, which included writing many research papers. I received little help with these papers and still managed to do very well on these papers and in my classes.
