Hello, students and parents!
My name is Yukari, and I would love to be your tutor!
At the University of Virginia, I was enrolled in the Curry School of Education for three years where I was placed as a student teacher in elementary, middle and high school classes to provide instructional support for the teacher and also create our own lessons plans. As an undergraduate student, I also traveled to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic to teach English and studied for a semester in Argentina. After graduating, I have continued to be active in the classroom by serving as a substitute teacher and an after-school program staff member at Georgetown Day School in Washington, D.C. For a year, I served as a private tutor for two boys attending a bilingual Montessori school. Currently, I am a science teacher at Halstrom Academy and the science, math, and Spanish tutor for middle and high school students at Tutoring Club. Occasionally, I work with elementary age students to practice reading comprehension and math.
Through my experience in the classroom, I strive to present information to ensure understanding as well as create activities for students to exercise or demonstrate the knowledge and skills. In addition to content mastery, I want to build students' confidence in the subject matter.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yukari
