I've been in love with the game for a long time.
I played two seasons collegiately, and have taught and coached this wonderful game for over two decades, working with youth level, high school and college players. Currently, I'm an Assistant Coach for Orange Coast College Men's Basketball. I've had the opportunity to lead over 50 basketball camps, countless clinics, individual workouts, and have been blessed to have worked alongside some terrific teachers along the way
Being a student of the game incorporates many of the subjects kids learn in school. Reading (Balance/Footwork), Geometry (it's a game of angles), Geography (the court is a map), Language (Terminology), History (important in developing any passion), and Psychology (mental aspect of the game).
Coaching lasts a day or two, teaching lasts a lifetime. So I focus on teaching and development rather than coaching. Teaching through demonstration, repetition and humor while instilling self-confidence, the importance of effort, footwork, balance, communication, the gratification that comes from sacrificing for the betterment of a group and the joy of learning and playing the game.
It is a game of giving, and if there is one thing a player learns under my mentorship, it is that.
I subscribe to the 3 H's:
Hope to spend time with you on the court.
