I have an M.S. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Michigan.
Since retiring from Rohm & Haas as a chemist and statistician, I have been a substitute teacher in Mathematics in the Huntington Beach Union High School District and tutored middle school, high school and college students.
Tutoring to Middle School and High School students includes Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, AP Statistics and Chemistry.
Tutoring to College Students includes Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Advanced Calculus, Advanced Statistics, and using Group Theory of Character Tables to construct molecular orbitals.
My approach to teaching is to (i) emphasize the fundamentals, (ii) develop student confidence by reviewing concepts already understood, (iii) train the student to think how to solve new problems based on prior knowledge, and (iv) offer students my advice from years of experience.
Testimonials:
"I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you put into teaching me chemistry, physics, and math. I learned a lot this summer thanks to you….You are a truly great teacher."
