I have served as a credentialed teacher in California public schools since 2000. I offer extensive experience in curriculum modifications and adaptations, classroom discipline, organization and management. I have worked as a classroom teacher with all ages (pre K-12) and a diverse student population. During my time teaching in high school I had the opportunity to help students who were at risk of academic retention and failure. I helped students to set goals and meet graduation requirements along with serving on the graduation committee. After serving in the public schools for seven years, I was given the opportunity to work for a celebrity family as a private teacher for two years. While working as a private teacher, I was able to develop my own pre-k curriculum.
I have earned my BA in Liberal Studies, both general & special education credentials, and Masters of Science in Special Education from California State University of Long Beach. I am a highly qualified teacher and no child left behind (NCLB) compliant. While attending CSULB, I worked with Disabled Student Services assisting the blind which inspired me to pursue my special education credential. I developed my leadership skills by serving on the Student Success Committee for CSULB student government. As a presidential intern, I worked with Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) researching and documenting issues with academic advising. I also served as a graduate assistant to the Masters Level 2 coordinator. Other achievements include graduating from the campus Leadership Academy, volunteering on community projects as an active member of Rotaract Leadership Club, member of the Council for Exceptional Children, being inducted into both Phi Kappa Phi national honor society and Pi Lambda Theta honor society for special educators.
