I have taught preschool, K-12, and ESL(English as Second Language)in adult education over the past 22 years. I've kept in touch with many of my students. One of my first students in preschool has graduated high school and begun college.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have worked with K-6 grades from 1990-2006. I have a current California Clear Multiple Subjects Credential.
I have been an aide, a substitute teacher, a part-time teacher, and a contracted full-time teacher in the area of K-6 grades.

General Computer

I have taken several classes on the basics of general computer literacy. I have taken these classes before and while teaching my own students the basic skills necessary to feel comfortable using the computer and educational programs, search engines, etc.

New computer information and advances are constantly changing. It's necessary to keep on top of the latest computer trend and programs no matter what our age.

Study Skills

I have taught a high school study skills class. It is one of the most important classes to begin the year with. It's the basis to be successful in all of the other classes.
I've also been a student of study skills classes in both high school and college. These classes have helped me get through the other classes more successfully and with much more ease and confidence.

Religion

I attended Catholic elementary and high schools. I have taken quite a few years of religion classes as a student.

I've also been a religious education teacher and taught K-6th grade communion and 9th grade confirmation classes. I have also been a lector for several years. I am registered with the Diocese of Orange and have a Safe Environment Training Certificate.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ELD(English Language Development) in the K-6 classes since 1988. I obtained my first job because of my bilingual/ biliterate abilities and experiences in the early 1990's. The school district hired me on an 'Emergency Bilingual Teaching Credential' my first year of teaching. Soon thereafter I earned my California Preliminary Teaching Credential.

ADD/ADHD

I have had over 20 years of experience in the classroom. There have been students in my classroom who have had physical disabilities, ADD, ADHD, Autism, Bipolar, and other challenges. Art History

I took and passed the NTE(National Teacher's Exam) and the CBEST(California Basic Essential Skills Test). I've also taught Art and Art History Classes.

I remember when I took Art History in college. It was quite easy to appreciate the different types of art when you learn about all the meaning and symbolism within them. CBEST

The CBEST(the California Basic Essential Skills Test) is a test with e few different parts that I had to pass in order to substitute teach. I remember that I studied for CBEST preparation class before to be better prepared. The CBEST was the longest test I'd ever taken.

Almost every school district that I've wanted to substitute teach at required proof of passage of this test.

Social Studies

Social Studies is one of the many subjects that is taught in an elementary classroom in California. It is one of the core general education subjects that is taught. Before obtaining a Multiple Subject Preliminary or Clear Credential, teachers must take and pass the NTE or National Teacher's Exam first. There's also the CBEST or the California Basic Essentials Skills Test that must be passed. Both test your knowledge of social studies. I have passed both of these exams.
