I decided to be a physics teacher while I was in high school. While I was earning my physics degree, I asked myself: "Self? If I'm to be the best physics teacher possible, shouldn't I have 'been there, done that'?" My answer was "Yes", so I set out to be there and do that. I worked for over 20 years as an Engineering Physicist at Stanford University's Linear Accelerator atom smasher, then I turned to full time teaching, which I love. I am very effective on a one-to-one basis.

I have a full-time Life Secondary California teaching credential in Physical Science as well as a Full-time Life Community College credential in Engineering. I have taught in both high schools and community colleges. In addition, I have worked extensively in industry. In industry, while not doing physics, I have been involved with computers and technical writing.

Though my basic training is in physics, there are several disciplines that are closely related to physics in which I am qualified to tutor. These disciplines include chemistry (basically physics focused on atoms and molecules), astronomy (physics focused on a large scale, though large-scale effects may be caused by small-scale interactions), mathematics through calculus (mathematics is a tool used in physics, and therefore has been part of my training), electronics (physics focused on electricity, magnetism and the solid-state), and the ASVAB (a test focused on basic physics and English, both of which I have done professionally).

Excellent teacher. — My son is the best judge and he was very happy with his session with Lawrence. He felt that Lawrence was able to explain abstract concepts easily and now my son is very confident about the chapter he went through with Lawrence. My son is looking forward to going over the next chapter with Lawrence in the next few days. ...
