My name is Syed M., a resident of Hercules and have resided in the Bay Area for over 25 years. In the past, I've attended Diablo Valley College, Contra Costa College, and the University of California, Berkeley. Originally, I intended to major in Economics, however I realized that I would rather major in something I found much more interesting, so now I intend to transfer to a 4-year school for Electrical Engineering. In the process of this academic transition, I've taken courses in a variety of areas such as Math, Biology, Physics, Psychology, Political Science, and even Nutrition. It was around 2 years ago that I started helping people with their Math and English homework while taking courses at Contra Costa College and since then have tutored people in mostly math-related subjects. Over the course of tutoring people these past 2 years, I've found that what prevented people from making positive progress in math wasn't so much the subject material, but it was the lack of confidence and not knowing some of the basics that made the material more difficult. However, once the students became better acquainted with the basics and gained confidence, they started to progress in a more positive direction in their studies.
I will be more than happy to work with any student in the subjects of basic arithmetic, pre-algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, geometry, and pre-calculus.
