I specialize in helping those who develop a less than positive feeling about math. Helping someone gain confidence and comfort with math and numbers is my prime directive. The methods I use vary from student to student, but one thing never changes: It takes hard work from both of us. I also like to bring art and music into the program. Not that I am looking to lose any valuable time from working on the student's main goals, but I find that a little sketching, for example, when trying to work through a challenging formula, can be just the thing to lighten the mood and clear up the mind. Oftentimes I will bring music into the work environment. I don't like to waste time; I know that hard work can be fun and profitable.
I have been a teacher for twelve years now after a career in business management. I have taught in many different positions as a substitute teacher. I have also had permanent classroom assignments teaching math and science as well as special education. In addition to reading, writing, and teaching, I enjoy watching films, camping, hiking, golfing, and biking. I love trying new things. On Sunday, March 17, 2013 I will be running my twenty-first marathon in Los Angeles. My charity is Memorial Hospital of Long Beach. Let's get to work! I look forward to hearing from you!
