I can quickly gain insight into a student’s learning style, and their stumbling blocks. Instead of just repeating what their teacher’s already gone over in class, I’m often able to provide another way of looking at the areas that they are having difficulty with. I try to give students an understanding of the underlying principles so that they can more easily remember the formula required to solve a specific problem.
I have passed WyzAnt’s certification tests in Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Probability, Precalculus and have also been certified by them in Electrical Engineering.
I find it beneficial to assign some homework while keeping in mind the student’s time pressures. My homework is to prepare for the next session and develop problems for the student that will help them through the areas that are challenging them.
